ISLAMABAD, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's navy has successfully seized a significant quantity of drugs, including a large consignment of narcotic pills, demonstrating its commitment to curb illegal activities in the region's maritime boundaries, the military said in a statement on Monday evening.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan army, said that the navy confiscated 2,000 kg of hashish, 370 kg of ice (crystal meth), and 50 kg of heroin during the operation.
In addition to the narcotics, a substantial cache of illegal pills was also seized, highlighting the growing challenge of drug trafficking in the region, the military said.
The ISPR said that the total estimated value of the drugs in the international market was approximately 145 million U.S. dollars.
The drugs have been handed over to the Anti-Narcotics Force for further investigation and legal action.
"Pakistan Navy remains ever-vigilant and committed to preventing all forms of illegal activities in the region's maritime domain, ensuring the security and stability of the region," the ISPR said. Enditem
